
Troy Linsley

Youth Band of Canada
- Troy holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Saskatchewan
where he studied with Marvin Eckroth. Having played saxophone with the
Saskatoon Symphony since 1994, Troy was featured as soloist, premiering
Rhapsody for Saxophone and Orchestra by Neil Currie, at the SSO's Festival
of New Music in 2001. He was also featured as a soloist with the Saskatoon
Symphony at the 2003 Festival of New Music where he performed Night Prayers
by Giya Kancheli for soprano saxophone and orchestra.

- An active chamber musician, he has been a member of the Saskatoon Saxophone
Quartet since 1995. Troy performed with the group at the 12th World
Saxophone Congress in Montreal. In 2000, he was a member of "The Scherzo
Quartet", and took first prize in the chamber music class at the National
Music Festival.

- Troy maintains a large private saxophone studio in addition to his duties as
saxophone instructor and lecturer in the Dept of Music at the University of
Saskatchewan. He is an active adjudicator and clinician and coordinates the
Saskatoon Summer Band Camp held annually in Saskatoon.

- When not playing the saxophone, Troy is the Administrator in the Dept of
Music and balances a hectic schedule with students and administration.

- Outside of the University Troy coordinates the Saskatoon Summer Band Camp
and enjoys the 100's of students that annually come to campus. He is also
the manager of the Canadian Band Association's, National Youth Band of
Canada.

- His wife Marie, plays bassoon with the Saskatoon Symphony and together they
have brilliant young son, Nathaniel.

Jim Forde, CD, ADC

- In 1994 Jim completed 30 years service in The Canadian Forces where he was
a Tuba Player, Drum Major, Instrumental Instructor at the Forces School of
Music and Director of Music of the Stadacona Band (Navy) in Halifax, Nova
Scotia. Now, as a naval reservist, Jim holds the positions of Maritime
Forces Atlantic Senior Staff Officer to the Nova Scotia International Tattoo
and Honourary Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of the Province of
Nova Scotia.

- Jim was elected National Treasurer of the Canadian Band Association in
1989, a position he held until December 1997 when he was elected the
Associations Vice-President and Secretary. Since 1991 Jim has been an
active member of the CBAs National Youth Band of Canada Committee. ICQ
